Good morning! How was your weekend? I’m in bed on Sunday night with a mug of the 25-calorie hot chocolate Adam always makes fun of me for drinking (the powder never fully absorbs into the water) after a couple days visiting family in Virginia for my cousin’s first communion. I’m linking up with Erin and Katie for today’s weekend recap as usual…
My flight didn’t leave Columbus until 7:30pm, so I was the last one to meet at my aunt Beth’s house. We reviewed my cousin Rachel’s detailed itinerary for the next day and made the balloon arch in the photo above.
How many bottles of vodka are there?? Two. Where does the omelette chef go? Outside under the tent. What time does Danny actually eat the body of Christ? About 11 a.m.
We headed to the church for Daniel’s first communion mass around 9. Me and my double chin were into it.
I actually just have the attention span of an ant. Danny did a great job and even had a speaking role at the beginning, but we sat a little too far away for good pictures.
Afterward, we ate a lot of extremely rich food back at my aunt’s.
That night we heated up leftovers and watched the movie Joy, which I can’t really tell you anything about. I can burn through entire TV seasons over the course of a weekend, but I’ve never been able to sit and watch long movies.
My cousin Rachel, her husband Dave, and the boys picked me up from my aunt’s in the late morning. We briefly entertained the idea of a hike but decided to go walk around Georgetown instead as we get a little nervous if there’s no food within view.
We ate lunch at a southeast Asian version of Chipotle owned by the same company. They have locations in Chicago, LA, and DC right now. Not something I normally would have tried – spicy cuisine isn’t my favorite – but I enjoyed my pork and chicken meatballs with green beans and brown rice.
We had cupcakes at Sprinkles for dessert (squarely in my wheelhouse this time).
After a quick stop at the Lego store (Daniel had, sadly, unwrapped a rosary in the picture above), Rachel drove me to the airport. My plan for the rest of the night is to grocery shop and pay attention to my poor Bobbin, who you’d think I abandoned for two weeks and not two days.
Finally, happy Mother’s Day to all my mom readers! I hope you had a great day.
