Hi and happy Tuesday! I didn’t end up writing this post on Sunday because I returned from Michigan too late (thanks to the ever-present construction on I-75 >:|), but had a chance to type it up last night…
Hello, hello! How was your weekend? Mine was full of various errands and a little soccer (literally a little, because my team in a tournament at work lost our first two games in a double-elimination setup. But I did “forget” to put sunscreen on my face, so I at least got some color).
Today, since I mostly review newer beauty/skincare/hair products on the blog, I thought it would be fun to share the ones I’ve used for years and keep returning to even as others come and go. Also, I have spent a lot of time hunched over my monitor at work like a gremlin as of late, and nothing particularly unique came to mind for this post.
Well, good morning. Let’s continue on with my recent confessions, shall we?
- I spilled a little chunk of brownie and ice cream from a Dairy Queen Blizzard on the center console of my car last week and haven’t cleaned it up yet.
Until this weekend, I hadn’t grocery shopped properly for at least a month. Just didn’t feel like it. Nothing sounded good except ice cream. When I had other things to pick up at Target, I would throw some random food items along with coffee grounds and 25-calorie hot chocolate packets (the essentials) into my cart and eat those.
I finally snapped out of it on Saturday and decided to make a meal plan for this week, which I’m sharing today. The shopping list and portion sizes are for one, with the exception of the yellow cake baked oatmeal which serves 10. You can eat this “oatmeal” at any time of day and pretend it’s healthy, so it’s nice to have on hand.
So, you guys. I have a confession. Actually, two confessions.
The first is that on Tuesday night I slept from 8:15 pm to 7:15 a.m. and then on Wednesday I ate a box of macaroni and cheese and a giant bowl of ice cream AFTER I had already stopped at Panera for dinner on the way home, so I couldn’t finish more than two posts this week. I just had to lay down. Three straight weekends out of town have taken their toll, or at least that’s the excuse I’m claiming.
The other confession is that I didn’t teach myself how to wear lipstick until like a month ago. My office is as casual as it gets, and so is the Columbus bar scene (not that I really get out), so I never had a reason to take the plunge. However, I had a wedding to attend a few weeks ago and really wanted to do a red lip for some reason, so I scoured the web for instructions while at work and did some practice at home. Here are five tips that will help you get started, too…
Over the past few months, I’ve started turning to podcasts instead of music for entertainment on my drive to work (when I’m not listening to one of the Harry Potter audiobooks, of course). Most of the songs I’ve downloaded to my phone are for working out, making them a little too upbeat and fast for my mornings pre-coffee. I realize I could just join the rest of the 21st century on Spotify and search for new, quieter playlists, but in the meantime, here’s a roundup of podcasts that actually hold my attention span. You can subscribe to them on the Podcasts app for iPhone or listen online.
Good morning and welcome to my third Monday off since Memorial Day. My long slog through the disgustingly cold spring is finally paying off as I catch up on some vacation days (we can’t carry ours over to future years, which I actually don’t mind at all). I’m traveling home today after visiting Adam in Florida, but here’s a quick recap of what we were up to this weekend (spoiler alert: it wasn’t much)…
Hello and happy Friday! It has been a busy week but I have the next one as vacation – I’m spending some time in Florida with Adam and then we’re going to New York for a wedding. You can follow me on Instagram for daily updates. 😉
Good morning! How is your week going so far? I’ve managed to stay on track with the blog and not yet finish the half gallon of ice cream I bought on Monday, so things are okay over here.
Today I wanted to take a step back and type out my biggest takeaways from my first six months of blogging (technically I purchased my domain back in October, but I didn’t start posting regularly until December) as part of my continued effort to stop doing things just to do them. I’ll use this post to reflect on how I can improve; you might find it useful if you started blogging in the last 24 hours. Some items on the list are technical, while some are more general musings. Here goes 🙂
Hello friends! I’m fortunately not awake yet because my wise former self scheduled a day of PTO to rest after a degenerates’ weekend with my college friends in Ann Arbor. So this is the best Monday I’ve had in a while. In case you’d like to start yours off by listening to me talk about myself on the internet, please follow the jump.
Happy Monday! Who’s excited to go to work in the 40-degree weather this morning?!
I at least missed the snow since I visited Adam in Naples this weekend. If this recap seems similar to my last one from Florida, it’s probably because we did many of the same activities in a slightly different order.
