Friday Favorites #3

Hello and happy Friday!  It has been a busy week but I have the next one as vacation – I’m spending some time in Florida with Adam and then we’re going to New York for a wedding.  You can follow me on Instagram for daily updates. 😉

But first, here are my latest Friday favorites.  I’m linking up with Heather, Andrea, and Katie today.

Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray

This little gem came in my June Birchbox.  It works better than any dry shampoo I’ve ever tried (even though it’s not marketed as one), makes my hair look like I’ve just had a professional blowout, and smells great.  My only complaint is that the top of the aerosol can is really hard to press down on.  I was wondering why my wrist was sore the day after I first tried it and realized it was from doing my hair.

WordPress: The Missing Manual

I devoted a post on Wednesday to what I learned during my first six months of blogging, but to sum it up, I have a lot of ‘opportunities’ (at work, this is what we call things that really just need to be done better).  I haven’t read this book cover to cover, but so far it’s easy to understand and full of information I can actually use, like a guide to moving from WordPress hosting to self-hosting a blog.

Weeknight Pool Time

I always feel a twinge of guilt when I read magazine articles about how women never make time for ‘self-care’ – reading, painting your nails, working out, etc – because my life outside of work is basically self-care.  Anyway, during the summer, I love to swim laps at my gym’s outdoor pool after work and then read on the deck before heading home.  It’s such a welcome change of pace after four or five long months of trying to force myself onto the treadmill.

Living in the Same Apartment for More Than a Year

The only silver lining to leaving college, I thought at the time, would be not having to move all my shit from one house back to my parents’ and into another house every August.  Turns out, there is really nothing good about leaving college.  I am now living in my third apartment in Columbus in three years – but I think I’ve made my last move.  I absolutely love the location of my current place and just signed another 12-month lease.  And I am so glad I will not be lugging boxes up and down flights of stairs in the 90-degree heat come the end of this month.

Cats in Beds

Did you guys know that Brett Michaels has a line of pet accessories?  And that it’s obviously called “Pets Rock?”  His cat bed is the perfect size for Bobbin, who I caught by surprise yesterday when I came home from work earlier than usual after a doctor’s appointment.  I wish approximately once a week that I were a cat who could just lay on the ground and not talk to anyone, and this was definitely one of those times.  How comfortable does he look?

Have a lovely weekend, my friends!
