I resolved this New Year to get out of bed when my alarm went off in order to mentally prepare for the day and maybe even eat an egg for breakfast instead of grabbing a protein bar to go. This has not become a habit: some days I manage to finish getting ready before starting my commute, others I don’t. So today, I bring you: my makeup routine for when I do my makeup in the car.
I start by smoothing on Make Up For Ever’s Redness Correcting Primer so my skin looks calm even if I’ve been rushing to get out the door. And, you know, because I can use a little redness correction on a daily basis anyway.
Next, I apply a BB cream instead of the liquid foundation I would use at home because the consistency is much thicker, which minimizes potential messes. It also blends easier than regular foundation, so you don’t have to look in the mirror as much. I like this particular Erborian cream because the shade matches my skin tone perfectly and it offers fuller coverage than others I’ve tried.
Next, I think a little eyeliner along the upper lash line goes a long way toward defining your eyes and giving the impression that you’ve put more effort into your appearance than you actually have. When I’m in a hurry, I like to use Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Hustle (which I previously reviewed here) because its creaminess makes it easy to apply and blend, and the soft brown color prevents any mistakes from appearing too obvious. Then I’ll apply two coats of black mascara. Cargo Cosmetics’ TexasLash formula never clumps or flakes!
I stain my cheeks with Stila’s Convertible Color lip and cheek tint, which has been around forever. My skin has warm undertones, so the Petunia shade’s peachy color works best for me. As a finishing touch, I’ll glide on some moisturizing lip balm and add a bit of product to my lips as well.
And there you have it! I took these photos this morning before work and proceeded to leave everything laying on the poster board I used as a background instead of taking it with me, if any of my coworkers were wondering why I looked like a little old ghost today. Happy (almost) Friday!
