Happy Tuesday! Here’s what I thought of the products in my December Birchbox.
This dry shampoo easily passed my “one day test” — it lets me go one extra day without washing my hair. The scent, which I’d describe as fruity and musty at the same time, was too strong at first but dissipated right away. Rice starch acts as the main oil-absorbing ingredient, which I’ve found usually works well. Rating: Keep
This sample included two shadows, one light pink and one dark. I wouldn’t buy this because a) pink eyeshadow brings out any redness in my eyes, causing me to resemble a pig, and b) the product wasn’t very pigmented. I had to dip my brush into the palette several times to get it to show up. Rating: Toss
I loved this spray and can see myself using it all next summer. In the past I’ve always used a gel to define my curls because I couldn’t find a strong enough spray, but this one did the trick without leaving my hair sticky or crunchy. It does exactly what it promises 🙂 Rating: Buy Full-Size
This is a nice, oil-free highlighter to put on under your foundation. It didn’t irritate my skin at all and provided just the right amount of sparkle. I learned that it is pretty concentrated, so apply lightly on the bridge of your nose to avoid looking like sparkly Rudolph. Rating: Keep
I’m sure this is nice, but as you may know, I don’t really need to spend $32 on a moisturizer. I also haven’t seen the sun through the thick, grey clouds in Ohio for days. Please don’t tell me that clouds actually give the most dangerous sunburns or whatever. At this point in the year, the days are so short that all of my sunlight hours are spent inside at work.
