Hi! I hope you’re having a fabulous Tuesday. We’ve been enjoying lots of humidity here, so my hair has looked great.
Today’s post is the second in a series on my favorite budget beauty picks (click the link to read part 1). I meant to finish this installment, which focuses on eye makeup, a little bit sooner, but I ended up testing a few losers and also forgetting what products I had already planned to include. I took out my makeup bag to take photos on Sunday and found five things I’d recently bought but had yet to try. Probably losing it. Here we go…
Happy Thursday! How is your week going? I’ve been a little off for the last couple days, so I’m looking forward to happy hour with some friends tonight and then soaking up more nice weather this weekend. Anyway…follow the jump for my monthly Birchbox review!
Growing up in the Midwest, I never put much consideration into swimsuit shopping. I’d get one each summer at Target when I was younger and at Victoria’s Secret later on, not even thinking to look elsewhere. Trying on swimsuits after a Michigan winter in which I consumed infinite Flipz white fudge pretzels while studying for midterms just didn’t seem like fun, I guess.
While the idea for this post came during my commute last week when when I somehow forgot I will not, in fact, be getting the summer off (and haven’t for three years), I put it together anyway for some inspiration to shop around a little more this season. Here are seven fun suits I came across!
I first saw the cream, pink, and black Ballerina one-piece on Cup of Jo and had to share it here – I might buy it for swimming laps this summer. Would you wear any of these? Where do you usually buy swimwear (help me out! 🙂 )?
I know it’s the end of the week when I stare at the floor for twenty minutes trying to gather my thoughts and start a post. Are you doing anything fun this weekend? I’m (obviously) looking forward to catching up on sleep. I try not to have caffeine after lunch unless I really need it, but I bought a can of Diet Mountain Dew and some Easter jelly beans in the cafe every afternoon this week. That’s my personal recipe for feeling great.
Moving on…I’ve had some inexpensive beauty products from Target in my makeup arsenal for a while and recently tried a bunch more. I ended up gathering too many to share in one post, so this will be the first in a little series. Below I’ll cover my favorites for face and lips, and you can watch for haircare, skincare, and eye makeup posts later this month.
Happy (almost) Easter! Are you celebrating this weekend? I’m driving to my parents’ house in Michigan tomorrow, then we’re getting together with some family for lunch on Sunday. No church for us, just an excuse to eat chocolate.
I decided recently that I needed some new spring clothes (I’ve decided this several times as the weather has warmed up) and also that I have way too many plain cardigans taking up space in my closet, so I spent some time browsing online for new sweaters and light jackets. Check out my favorites below – you can throw them on with jeans, a t-shirt, and a cool pair of shoes and call it a day!
Goood morning! I somehow walked into work today with freshly melted chocolate on the knee of my pants despite drinking a smoothie for breakfast, if anyone’s wondering how mine went. Or just read on for my monthly Birchbox review…
Good morning! What are you guys up to this weekend? I’m going to watch March Madness with some co-workers at the Mellow Mushroom this afternoon, then Adam comes in for the weekend tonight. It’s 8:30 a.m. and I’m already thinking about driving through the McDonald’s between the airport terminal and the freeway for a Shamrock Shake after I pick him up.
I reviewed four dry shampoos back in November but didn’t land on one I really loved. So, after burning through every bottle in just a few months, I decided to try again. This time I tested dry shampoos by Kardashian Beauty, Living Proof, and Elizabeth and James. The first one I picked up at random as I wandered aimlessly through the aisles of Target; the others had lots of positive reviews online.
I resolved this New Year to get out of bed when my alarm went off in order to mentally prepare for the day and maybe even eat an egg for breakfast instead of grabbing a protein bar to go. This has not become a habit: some days I manage to finish getting ready before starting my commute, others I don’t. So today, I bring you: my makeup routine for when I do my makeup in the car.
If I’ve learned anything in my almost three years in the workforce, it’s that even if you don’t think you enjoy online shopping, you can learn to like it by spending many of your waking hours sitting in front of a computer. Choosing an afternoon snack from the rainbow of Girl Scout cookie boxes that pop up in the office at this time of year and opening a package can be a great afternoon pick-me-up, especially if you don’t remember what you ordered.
I’ve read about several new skincare products and ingredients lately, so I made them the focus of my last online shopping trip. I tried a rosewater hydrating spray, a coffee-based lip scrub and balm, and a face wash made with baking soda. Here’s what I thought… Continue reading →
